Hemsworth says that he lost touch with his character in Taika Waititi’s latest Thor movie and improvised too much, which made him look like a «parody of himself».
«I got caught up in improvisation and ridiculousness, and I became a parody of myself», — Hemsworth told Vanity Fair (via Variety).
Chris Hemsworth has made numerous appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including such films as «Thor: Ragnarok», «Avengers: Infinity War» and «Avengers: Endgame» — however the latter, «Thor: The Love and the Thunder» 2022, did not meet the expectations of either critics or audiences. The actor notes that he was disappointed in the character in the end:
«I would read other people’s lines and say: «Oh, they have much cooler things. They’re more fun. What does my character do?». I have a wig, a costume, muscles. Yes, I’m part of this big thing, but I can probably be replaced».
Interestingly, Hemsworth’s «Avengers» co-star Robert Downey Jr. is a big fan of Chris’s performance.
«First of all, Thor as a character was very difficult to adapt. Hemsworth got, in my opinion, the most complex psyche of all the Avengers. He has intelligence and seriousness, but also restraint, fire, and softness».
It is unknown whether Hemsworth will appear in a potential fifth Thor movie, but he can be seen on the big screen in the near future in prequels to «Mad Max» in the company of Anya Taylor-Joy — from May 23 in Ukrainian cinemas.
