Kevin Macdonald directed legal drama «The Mauritanian» and the sports documentary «One Day in September», for which he won an Oscar».
Macdonald’s latest work «Klitschko: More Than a Fight» will open this year’s Sheffield DocFest — the world’s leading documentary film festival, which takes place from June 12 to 17 in the UK.
The documentary will tell the story of Vitali Klitschko’s sports career, his «mayoral» work in Kyiv and will cover the time of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and in particular the enemy’s attempts to advance on the capital.
«Like many people around the world, I was shocked and outraged by the aggression, killing and wanton destruction resulting from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,» Macdonald said. «I wanted to do something to help, and making a documentary is the only way I have at my disposal».
«Klitschko: More Than a Fight» was created in collaboration with Docsville Studios and Sky Studios. Later in 2024, the film will be broadcast on Sky Documentaries in the UK and Germany.
