Sony has updated its lineup of Mini LED, OLED, and LED TVs and offered several improvements to draw attention to the new products.

«Cinema is coming home» — is the slogan for TVs this year, and Sony wants to re-establish Bravia as a brand that can create an unrivaled living room experience.

The top-of-the-line Bravia 9 model contains 325% more blackout zones than the X95L of 2023. Peak brightness has increased by 50% compared to the same X95L. At the same time, the new TV consumes 20% less power than its predecessor.

The new TVs feature the XR Backlight Master Drive system, which decides how best to use the available LEDs. The information is processed by a new chip created by Sony specifically for Mini LED technology.

In addition to Dolby Vision across the lineup, all new TVs except the entry-level Bravia 3 support Netflix Adaptive Calibrated Mode and the new Prime Video Calibrated Mode. This allows the TV to automatically optimize the picture for movies, TV shows, and sports broadcasts to provide a better experience. The Bravia 9 speaker system has an additional pair of tweeters pointing upward, which should improve the surround sound experience.

The price of the new Sony Bravia 9 TV starts at $3299.99 for the 65-inch model. The 75-inch and 85-inch versions cost $3999.99 and $5499.99, respectively.

The rest of Sony’s 2024 lineup includes the Bravia 8, which uses a conventional OLED panel. Sony says it’s 31% thinner than the A80L, and the company has reduced the display bezels by 29%. The Bravia 8 includes all the same calibrated picture modes as the Bravia 9. For gamers, this model offers a 120Hz refresh rate, automatic PS5 image optimization, and a game menu for quick access to settings.

The Bravia 7 is another Mini LED model with overall performance comparable to the X95L, but at a much lower price. It costs $2299.99 for the 65-inch version, and the largest 85-inch model is priced at $3499.99.

At the same time, Sony is keeping last year’s X90L Mini LED TV in the lineup without any updates.

The new 2024 lineup is rounded out by the most affordable Bravia 3 series with LED screens that provide 60 Hz. In this case, various enhancement technologies are not available, as in other new devices, but proprietary image processing is available.

All Sony TVs support Google TV with add-ons like Eco Dashboard. And the Bravia 9, 8, and 7 are all ATSC 3.0 compatible.

Sony has also updated its line of sound panels and speakers. The flagship wireless system Bravia Theater: Quad allows you to place four speakers in any convenient place and get 360-degree spatial sound from 16 speakers. The price of the system without a subwoofer is $2499.99. Also available are the more affordable models Bravia Theatre Bar 9 (with 13 speakers) and Bravia Theatre Bar 8 (with 11 speakers). They will create a room map for perfect reproduction of sound effects in 3D space.

For those who like to watch TV at night, the Bravia Theater U neck speaker is available for $299.99. It can be paired with two devices at the same time, and the built-in microphone allows you to make phone calls while relaxing on the couch.

You can pair any of these external speakers with your Bravia TV’s integrated sound, and Sony will ensure that each device is operating with the best possible frequency range.
