Nothing has prepared to release new wireless headphones. Users may be confused by the chosen naming system, so it should be emphasized that the Nothing Ear model is an update of the Nothing Ear (2), while the Nothing Ear (a) is rather the spiritual successor of the Nothing Ear Stick.
The announced new products keep the design that debuted in 2021, and the improvements are mainly focused on everyday performance. The flagship Nothing Ear headphones have optimized the sound profile and added new personalization options. At the same time, the battery life has been extended by 25%. In addition, there is a new Bass Enhance setting that provides amplification of low frequencies. The more affordable version of Nothing Ear (a) is available in yellow for the first time for the manufacturer.
The devices have improved sound transmission thanks to an advanced driver system. Both models have the same active noise reduction power and can cancel up to 45 dB of noise, which is twice as much as Ear 2. Both pairs are also IP54 protected against dust and water. The more expensive version of Nothing Ear additionally offers wireless charging and better case protection (IP55). Nothing has improved voice call performance and AI voice isolation for both models. The «Smart» Active Noise Cancellation System adapts to ambient noise and checks for «leakage» between the ears and the ear canal.
A special feature of the new products is integration with ChatGPT. If the user has the ChatGPT app installed on a connected Nothing phone, he or she will be able to ask questions to the generative AI chatbot by pressing the headphone leg.
The new Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear(a) headphones are already available for pre-order at $149 and $99, respectively. The actual sales will start on April 22.
