Do you remember the woman who slept in Twitter’s X office and justified Elon Musk’s methods, and she was fired anyway? Well, now Esther Crawford is working for Mark Zuckerberg at Meta, which she talks about said on Instagram. Crawford was XTwitter’s director of product management for more than two years before she was fired in February 2023.

«Some personal news: I’ve joined the Messenger team at Meta as a product director. Messengers have changed the way we communicate with friends, family, content creators, businesses, and now it’s also the interface to interact with artificial intelligence… While I considered many great options, Meta was my top choice because I’m obsessed with how people communicate through technology — no other company has a greater scale of influence in this space than Meta, which connects nearly 4 billion people (half of humanity)».

Crawford was considered one of Elon Musk’s top deputies after he took over the company in October 2022. She was in charge of Twitter’s Blue subscription service and came to prominence when she publicly embraced Musk’s rigid work culture.

«When your team is meeting deadlines around the clock, sometimes you sleep where you work», — Crawford wrote in X at the time.

But despite surviving the first three rounds of layoffs at the company, Crawford was eventually fired in February 2023. She said about his thoughts on Musk and his management style in July of the same year.

  • «First of all, Elon is surprisingly charming and genuinely funny», — Crawford wrote. «…Tells the same stories and jokes over and over again… His personality and demeanor can go from excitement to anger».
  • «Because it was hard to read his mood and how he would react to anything, people quickly became afraid to call him for meetings or tell him bad news,» Crawford said.
  • «Sometimes it seemed that the inner circle was too zealous and fanatical in its unwavering support for everything he said».

Still, Crawford says she won’t stop using X just because she joined Meta. She says she’s an advocate for using «all social products that can be developed».
