The electric bike arrived for the editorial review in a huge branded box reinforced with wooden formwork to avoid possible damage during transportation. It is unlikely that you will be able to carry such a large cargo on your own, so I recommend ordering a targeted delivery right away.
To save space in the box during transportation, the 2E EB19 was shipped unassembled. Therefore, the future owner will have to assemble it before use
The electric bike is packed in such a way as to avoid damaging the paint or mechanical integrity of the structure during unpacking and delivery. Strong ties, plugs and protective consumables help to ensure thisThe front wheel is disconnected from the e-bike, as well as the saddle, luggage rack, lights, and fendersIn some boxes, we can additionally find the following items:
To put it all together, the manufacturer equips the model with a special multitool. It contains bits of the required type and diameter. It’s quite enough for the initial assembly, but the workmanship leaves much to be desired and can be easily bent in strong hands. Therefore, I recommend having a separate set of tools and bits for further maintenance of the electric bike.
The paper manual describes the assembly procedure step by step for inexperienced cyclists
However, you should read the instructions carefully before doing anything, as they contain some inaccuracies For example, if you classically put your «iron horse» on the handlebars to mount the front wheel, you will damage the YL81F display In general, the assembly does not require professional skills, but it does require care
The 2E EB19 boasts a practical look in its dark green color. This gives a hint that it is designed not only for city rides on a flat road, but also for outings in nature and even a little «offroad» (which I will talk about later)
Wide tires and a massive frame give it a somewhat brutal style typical of fat bikes.
The length of the electric bike is 190 cm, and the seat height is adjustable from 92 to 103 cm. This allows you to adapt the bike to individual anthropometry. The manufacturer claims that it is suitable for people from 160-200 cm tall, but there is a nuance. At 181 cm tall, I had to use my knee to touch the horn and light buttons while pedaling and turning. Therefore, it will be convenient for people with a higher height to ride only in electric motor mode, without active pedaling.
Display in the center of the steering wheel — first a bell of technology in design. The battery itself is integrated into the frame and does not spoil the overall aesthetics, as in other versions, where it is mounted in a separate unit
The frame is made of an aluminum alloy that strikes a balance between lightness and strength. Aluminum is resistant to corrosion, which is especially important for use in wet or rainy conditions.
The adjustable shock absorption fork is designed for combined riding modes. The suspension can be set to Lock mode when riding on smooth roads or vice versa unlocked during country trips with questionable terrain.
The tires are of the following types «fatbike» — Chaoyang 26 х 4″. This company has been producing tires not only for bicycles, but also for cars and trucks for decades. Their advantage is that due to the high profile They provide an additional cushioning effect, smoothing out road irregularities. In addition, they add better grip on difficult surfaces. According to the specifications, the tire pressure should be 1.4 atmospheres, which is very low compared to the classic «rubber» and adds extra softness.
The most important safety element in electric bikes of this weight can rightfully be considered the brakes. Before the test, I had some doubts about them, whether they could cope with the rather high declared speed. Fortunately, there were no problems with them, which I will discuss in more detail in my personal experience.
The front tire is fixed with classic nuts, not a quick-release mechanism. In terms of reliability, this is a plus, because here we have a much higher load on the front axle compared to conventional bicycles. A wrench is included to secure the wheel, but I recommend that you still tighten it securely with a socket wrench, or even better, a torque wrench, to set the torque correctly.
There are no complaints about the gears, because there is a 7-speed version from Shimano (modelShimano tourney tz), which has proven itself among cyclists. The handlebars are quite ergonomic, but during the test we noticed a backlash in the area where the fork stem and the handlebar extension mechanism are connected. I hope that this is a feature of the test sample, and not a mass phenomenon. And it is impossible to check this point before assembling the bike.
The seat mechanism is quick-release, so it doesn’t take long to adjust its position. It is moderately soft and comfortable enough for long trips on a flat surface. For riding on a bad dirt or rocky road, you will have to find a softer option, otherwise you will have an unforgettable experience at the end of an extreme bike trip. Nevertheless, this is not a two-suspension bike and you shouldn’t expect anything supernatural from it either.
The pedals also raise no complaints while riding. They are quite sturdy and easy to fix during assembly, the main thing to remember in this process is that there is a left-hand thread. I am sure that the owners of 2E EB19 In most cases, they will be used only as footrests.
The protective «mudguards» are made of black matte plastic with a glossy insert in the center. On the one hand, this is a plus in terms of lightening the overall weight, but I have seen electric bikes with metal or aluminum «wings». The disadvantage of this solution is that it can be broken in the event of a fall or a bad landing, especially in the cold season, when the plastic hardens and becomes much more fragile
The front wing shares a common mounting bolt with the massive lantern, so they can be displaced during installationThe leg for fixing the electric bike deserves special attention. Given the high dead weight of the 2E EB19, the manufacturer did not skimp on it.
All 2E EB19 electronics do not require any additional setup and can be used directly «out of the box». The only thing that is required of the owner during assembly is to connect the headlight mounting plug to the wiring. This should not cause any difficulties, everything is intuitive, and the connectors are marked with arrows at the connection points. The charge controller and main electronics are hidden in a protected plastic box. By default, it limits the current to 15 A, although it can be adjusted from 1 to 50 A. It should be borne in mind that this will affect the power and energy consumption.
The main information needed for the cyclist is visualized thanks to the YL81F display. It can operate at temperatures from -20 to 60 degrees Celsius. You can also change the settings of the electric bike on it, but you will need a separate control unit with five mechanical buttons located on the left side of the handlebars. YL81F allows you to customize various parameters, such as brightness, distance units, driving modes (pedal, electric, or combined), pedal sensitivity, speed limit, and more.
It allows you to diagnose a fault using special codes. The manual describes in detail the fault codes (E001-E011) that may appear on the display, such as E006 (low battery) or E005 (brake problem). There are also recommendations for resolving common problems, such as erratic acceleration or reduced range.
The electric bicycle is equipped with a powerful lithium battery that produces voltage 48 volts and 15 A/h (720 W/h). According to the measurements, the battery charge time from 0 to 100% is 7 hours and 25 minutes with the included power supply. For me, this is quite a long time, but «We have what we have».
The manufacturer states, that «iron horse» can travel about 48 km on a single charge. Of course, this is influenced by many factors, ranging from riding style, terrain, and your own weight and tire pressure. I’ll tell you more about this in my standard measurements during the test drive.
On the rear axle we have a 1000 W electric motor. This is exactly what is needed for those who like to ride at their leisure without endless pedaling strokes. According to the manufacturer, it allows you to accelerate the electric bike to a speed of 55 km/h.
As for the lighting, we have a massive front light with a — DIYMING lens with a power of 8 watts, as well as a rear marker light. This is enough to stand out on the road in the dark and light your way. Although I would personally choose some alternative lighting option.
I would also like to note that the wiring is well laid. Nothing wobbles, hangs or gets in the way.
As you know, no two driving styles are the same, just as no two people are the same. The 2E EB19 is designed to cover the widest possible range of potential users. Versatility always requires compromises, so you need to make concessions in some ways. For example, wide and heavy wheels with «mud» tread on one side giveThe plus side is in shock absorption and traction on mud or snow. On the other hand, there is additional load and power loss, «unsprung weight» and noise when driving on asphaltFor this reason, I have tried to cover as many operating scenarios and driving modes as possible in the test drive. So please put on your safety helmets and keep a firm grip on the steering wheel
In the electric drive mode, the bike quickly gains speed. The degree of acceleration can be adjusted using a special block on the left side of the handlebars, as well as by combining one of the seven gears. I didn’t have any desire to help the movement by pedaling. The most comfortable mode for me was maximum power and fifth gear. On a flat road, I accelerated to a speed of 45 km/h. I didn’t want to go any faster, because the tread type doesn’t help, and the imperfect balancing was starting to show. After all, this is a bicycle, not a motorcycle, so you shouldn’t demand the extraordinary from it. The hydraulic brakes are responsive, which is important on busy streets. You won’t have any problems with them on a flat road. The display shows speed, charge level, and distance traveled, which is convenient for monitoring. However, the manufacturer advises against driving in wet conditions, so it’s not the best choice for a rainy dayOn public roads, driving at a speed of 25-30 km/h, I was able to drive 43 kilometers solely with the help of an electric motor.
Thanks to its forked shock absorption and wide 2E tires, the EB19 is confidently overcoming uneven terrain, whether it’s gravel, sand or light off-road. The shock absorber can be adjusted to your weight and surface type. When driving into the mud (which is not recommended), it is better to choose a higher gear to avoid slipping and skidding. Don’t forget that we have rear-wheel drive, which, if the traction is poor in difficult conditions, will try to turn you sideways
You can also drive on low grass or dirt without any problems. In such cases, there is no such inertia in the movement as when driving on asphalt roads, and you can’t reach high speeds here either — wrong surface. So we select the first gears for maximum wheel torque and continue on our way. In such operating conditions, I was able to drive about 30 kilometers with the electric motor.
Since there is only one motor, the bike is not designed for hard uphill or downhill (so-called downhill) riding on rough mountainous terrain. For such a scenario, you need at least a dual-motor and dual-suspension versionBut when I descended at a high angle, I realized that despite the high weight and steep incline of the road, the hydrodynamic brakes of the 2E EB19 work perfectly All in all, I rode the e-bike for over 80 kilometers, and it left me with a very positive impression. The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of moisture protection. Given that it has been raining for the past few weeks, this limits the ability to ride again without the risk of damaging expensive electronics.
2E EB19 can be purchased for UAH 53,460, which is typical for electric bikes with a 1000 W motor and 15 Ah battery. The 12-month warranty adds an additional argument to the purchase, although it only applies to the first owner and does not cover damage from misuse.
