Three years ago, ITC.ua published a review of a smart desktop clock Gelius Time Bridge. Now the company has released the second version, which differs significantly from its predecessor, has additional features, and has virtually no competitors. We have already tested Gelius Time Bridge 2 for some time and are now ready to share our impressions. It is worth noting that such gadgets have become even more relevant, as the number of devices supporting wireless charging has increased significantly, which means that this process can be almost invisible, and most importantly, actually without wires.

Gelius Time Bridge 2 comes in a medium-sized white box.

Design and ergonomics

Gelius Time Bridge 2 is a stylish modern device with a plastic case. The upper part is glossy and the lower part is matte. The dimensions of the model are 225×105×52 mm, and it weighs 473 grams.

The smartwatch has an oval oblong shape with a flat platform for charging devices on top.

On the front panel of Gelius Time Bridge 2 we see a screen with the clock, date, day of the week, and active wireless charging. Below are three physical buttons responsible for turning on/off two alarms and adjusting the brightness of the digits.

The rear panel has a USB-C port and four physical buttons for setting the time and date.

On the right side, there is a touch panel that controls the alarm and the backlight.

On the bottom, we see two semicircular silicone feet that prevent the watch from slipping on the surface, information about the device, and a hole for the built-in speaker.

Functions, controls and features

Gelius Time Bridge 2 — is primarily a clock, so it shows the time. It’s also a calendar, so to the right of the time, you can see the day and month.

You can also set two alarms. They are configured with the back buttons and turned on/off with the front buttons. The sound is simple (beep, beep, beep), but very loud, so you will definitely wake up even if it is not close by.

Gelius Time Bridge 2 is also a charging station for smartphones or headphones with Qi wireless charging. Unfortunately, you can’t charge smartwatches. Depending on the device, charging takes place with different power (5W/7.5W/7.5W/10W/15W).

This gadget also serves as a night light. That’s why it allows you to change the brightness of the clock’s digits using a physical button on the front panel. This helps to avoid blinding you if the device is standing next to your bed.

There is also a full and different backlight on the case. The latter is changed via the side touch panel. It can be RGB of medium brightness, just a yellow light, and the same light but 50% dimmer.

More details about the gadget can be found at here. And here here I’ll leave the electronic manual that is physically in the box, and below is a description of setting the clock and alarm.

Autonomy of Gelius Time Bridge 2

Gelius Time Bridge 2 is equipped with an 1800 mAh battery. Of course, this is not for charging devices when there is no light, but for keeping the watch running. The claim is 5-7 hours of operation on a single charge. In fact, after several power outages, I can confirm that Gelius Time Bridge 2 actually holds a charge for about 6.5 hours.

Experience with Gelius Time Bridge 2

I liked the Gelius Time Bridge 2. The smartwatch has a modern design that fits into the interior, suitable for different rooms, for the office or even a cafe. It’s relatively compact, but the numbers are large, clearly visible from a distance, glowing brightly, and you can dim them if you need to.

The upper glossy part of the case quickly collects dust and generally gets dirty from fingers and the like. But the case is also easy to clean, and traces of use are almost invisible.

Gelius Time Bridge 2 was placed on my bedside table, so the device acted not only as a smartphone charger, but also as a clock, night light, and alarm clock. That is, it performed all the functions it was supposed to.

I also experimented and charged my phone only through it, which helped me not to use the cable at all for a week. It’s convenient and you get used to it quickly. Before using it, I charged the phone fully, and then only recharged it through the watch. This was enough for comfortable use without any problems. It turned out that during the day, the smartphone was down to about 20-40%, in the evening I went to bed to read and put it on the platform, and in a few hours while I was reading it was already 100%. Sometimes I had to go to bed later, so the smartphone charged while I was sleeping.

It’s convenient that the brightness of the watch face can be adjusted, so I set it to the minimum so that my eyes wouldn’t be blinded when I woke up at night and looked at the time. It is also convenient to touch the case and turn on the backlight. This helps you not to touch the furniture when you go to the restroom or drink water at night, and at the same time does not disturb the person sleeping next to you.

There are two alarms, I set them for different times to wake up for sure, but then I left only one because it was very loud, and it was enough to remove the remnants of sleep.

I did find a drawback, but it’s minor and not directly related to the watch itself. There is no power supply included, which is very logical for the price tag of the device. However, if you want to charge your gadgets via wireless charging, you will have to use your own power supply and plug it into an outlet.

Gelius Time Bridge 2 also works simply from USB, but in this case, wireless charging does not work, which is logical because the gadget simply does not have enough power for this. Keep this in mind when planning your usage scenario.

Prices and competitors

Gelius Time Bridge 2 is sold at a price of UAH 1499. In my opinion, this is an adequate price tag for such a multifunctional device, which actually has only one competitor. At least from what I was looking for, and I did it very meticulously.

I found only one and it is the first model mentioned above Gelius Time Bridge. It is still on sale and costs from 999 hryvnias. As for me, the second model is much more advanced in design, so it is not a competitor for me, but everyone has different tastes. So, it is there, and you can look at it and buy it if you like.

Among other things, there are only a few watches that are so popular TFA 605014 or Xiaomi LYWSD02MMC, or wireless charging platforms. For example, Samsung EP-P5400, BASEUS Light Magnetic Wireless Charger, or USAMS US-CD181. However, the former only shows the time, has an alarm clock, and does not have wireless charging, while the latter has only that.
