Segway is primarily known for its electric vehicles. But it turns out that they also have a series of charging stations, one of which we will look at today. Although this is probably very logical given the features of their main products. The Segway Cube 1000 stands out for its stylish design, which is inspired by EcoFlow. The station can increase its capacity with additional batteries, and it happens in a cool way — two parts of the station are unscrewed, and an additional battery is installed between them. The maximum is four. All this, of course, makes it bigger, but the charging station does not lose its style and relative compactness. Moreover, Segway Cube 1000 has a waterproof case, and is not afraid of falls, bumps, etc. Judging by all of the above, this model is definitely worth your attention, at least in this review.

The Segway Cube 1000 comes in a light-black box. Inside is the station itself, the manual, a power cable, and a cable for a car cigarette lighter.
Segway Cube 1000 has a modern, even futuristic design. However, it is quite minimalistic, and the station itself is gray and black. The model’s dimensions are 284×354×289 mm, and it weighs — 16.2 kg.
The base of the case is reinforced metal. There are also inserts made of matte plastic.
On the top and along the edges of the case, we see convenient carrying handles. On the top, on a flat platform, there is an inscription Segway.
Four silicone legs, Segway inscriptions, and holes for the ventilation system were placed on the left and right ends. This means that the charging station can be placed not only horizontally but also vertically. Similar rubber legs are placed on the bottom of the station. There is also basic technical information about it.
On the sides are bolts connecting the two parts of the station. If they are unscrewed, the station will be divided in half, and up to four additional batteries can be inserted between its parts.
On the front panel, we see an oblong LED screen under the film, which displays all the basic information about working with the station, as well as turning on/off various functions of the model.
Below it is a button for activating/deactivating three 220 V sockets and the sockets themselves. Above them, we see two DC ports covered with a rubber plug and a button to turn them on/off.
On the left, under another large rubber cap, there is a car cigarette lighter, two 100W USB-C ports and four 18W USB-A ports.
The rear panel has a hinged lid, under which there is an input for the network cable and an XT60 port for connecting a solar panel. For example, the portable model 2E PSPLW300, which we have already reviewed, fits here. The overload control button is also located here.
Segway Cube 1000 has a 1024 Wh battery. The battery type here is LiFePO4, which is one of the best options on the market. The declared number of full charging cycles is — 4000. This means 10 years of full service with full use once a day.
The maximum charging power from the outlet is 1250 W. The station can take a maximum of 800 W from the solar panel (12–60 V) and 200 W from the cigarette lighter. The full charging time from the mains at maximum power is 70–80 minutes.
The rated power of the station is 2200 W. Peak power — 4400 W (R-Drive function). The maximum output power is also, 2200 W. There is a UPS function with a response time of 20 ms. Output waveform — sine wave (PSW).
As I wrote above, a feature of the Segway Cube 1000 is the ability to install up to four additional batteries between the body parts. Each battery has a capacity of 1000 Wh, so if you install all of them, the maximum capacity can be 5 kWh.
Let’s not forget about the 12 different output ports that allow you to connect almost anything to the station: from a phone to a coffee maker, from a solar panel to a refrigerator.
The Segway Cube 1000 charging station also has a built-in power supply and a Bluetooth module for connecting to devices.
Segway Cube 1000 works with the proprietary Segway-Ninebot app. This is a stylish, intuitive and modern application with a wide range of features. To connect the station to the software, you need to turn on Bluetooth and GPS on your device and activate the station itself. Then the app will automatically detect it and start connecting, and to confirm, you need to press the power button on the station once.
The Segway-Ninebot app allows you to control the station’s charge, remotely turn on/off its ports, update the software of the station itself, monitor the charging level and its power, activate available functions, including peak power, and more. You can also view the station’s serial number and various reference information here.
The Segway-Ninebot allows users to contact the support service to discuss details or share their impressions and experiences of using the station on the built-in social network.
I liked the Segway Cube 1000 because of its design and the ability to place it vertically or horizontally. Also, this charging station stands out for the ability to expand its battery and do it visually organically, but you will have to pay more for it. This means that the Segway Cube 1000 is suitable for use in a small apartment, and after adding batteries, it can easily pull a larger apartment or a private house.
Among other modern models, it stands out for this very reason, so the possibility of expansion is probably the biggest feature of the station. Because many competitors have stylish designs, and user-friendly software, too. Although some do not have it, so the presence of the app is definitely a plus.
We used the Segway Cube 1000 during the recent power outages, so it was as comfortable as it could be in an apartment without electricity. It pulled a refrigerator (300 W, and 1 kW at its peak when turned on), a boiler, and a washing machine. The last two appliances take 800 watts at their peak. I also connected a washing machine and a boiler at the same time and everything was fine. After that, I had no problems making toast on the toaster in the morning without light (500 watts), and my son played Xbos Series S on the TV, and it was on average 80-100 watts, sometimes 120-150 watts. Of course, a laptop, and a PC are connected to it without any problems. The latter draws 200-250 watts in standard mode, and this is enough for hours. A laptop can be powered for a very long time.
In terms of power, Segway Cube 1000, as you can see, provides power to all major household appliances and does so without any problems. But here is the question of the expediency of their use and the rapid discharge of the battery, for example, if you turn on the electric stove, arises, but this is another issue, and it applies to all charging stations.
The main thing is that it pulls, that you can connect and work with literally everything to it: from a jigsaw to a coffee maker, from a screwdriver to an electric stove, and not have any problems. It’s also good that Segway Cube 1000 is ready to be used not only at home but also on the street: in the yard of a private house, fishing, in the country, in the field, etc. As mentioned above, it is not afraid of water and dirt, as well as bumps and poor conditions of use.
There is a cooling system with fans, of course, they make noise during operation, but not much, and it can be tolerated without any problems. In comparison, it’s much quieter than a laptop running games.
Of the little things, there was not enough flashlight and wireless charging on top, but this is something that many other modern models do not have. Although there used to be more of this, they began to abandon such things. However, not everyone has.
Segway Cube 1000 is sold at a price of 57,999 hryvnias, which is more expensive than well-known and not-so-well-known competitors. True, they don’t have additional features and protection, but not everyone needs it. Among the competitors, we chose those that have the same battery within 1000 Wh.
We should also note that in many places the station is sold together with a solar panel, which costs about 20,000, so the offer is favorable. However, this is the case if you need these things. But in other places where there is no solar panel, the price tag is still the same. Therefore, if you take it, it should be together with the panel.
For example, the well-known model EcoFlow DELTA 2. And there is also a stylish ANKER SOLIX C1000X (price from UAH 33,950) and Fossibot F1200. Also pay attention to the popular model Jackery Explorer 1000, for ExtraLink EPS-S1000S and Houny HY-1000.
