Packaging and equipment

The Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless are sold in a small cardboard box in white and blue colors.

Inside are the headphones themselves with a case, a set of replaceable ear cushions (four pieces), a user manual, and a short USB-A to USB-C cable for charging.

Design and ergonomics of the Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless

The Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless has a thick square case with rounded corners. The case is made of matte plastic.

On the front we see a USB-C port for charging and an LED indicator to the left of it. At the top, on the lid, there is an image of the company’s logo, and on the bottom there is information about the headphones.

The device itself also has a matte plastic case and an irregular bean shape. The headphones have no legs, they have an LED indicator and an engraved Sennheiser logo. We can also see the left and right earpiece markings and two microphones on each earpiece, which work for noise cancellation.

Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless are IP54-rated for water and dust resistance. The protection applies only to the earbuds, but the case does not.

Features of Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless

Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless is equipped with 7 mm TrueResponse dynamic drivers. The same drivers are installed on the more expensive Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 model. There is also an active noise cancellation (ANC) system and «transparent» mode. If desired, both modes can be turned off, which is very important. We also have wind protection.

ANC works great when you need to cut off ambient sounds, etc., but it lets in something too sharp and loud, which is what it should be. For example, a car or tram signal if you’re crossing the road and thinking about something else. The in-ear design of the headphones also works for noise reduction, so the overall impression of the system is positive.

Using headphones with active ANC is as comfortable as walking down the street and listening to music. You won’t hear anything unnecessary, but you won’t miss important moments. «Transparent» mode is also adequate. It has three levels of operation (weak, medium, and strong), so you can keep the headphones in your ears and communicate with someone without any problems.

Connection, application, and management

The Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless work via Bluetooth 5.3 LE and have a proprietary Smart Control application. The program is modern, easy to use, and most importantly, it has many different functions and settings.

It has headphone and case charge tracking, built-in and custom equalizer, and various sound styles, including bass boost and voice highlighting in Podcast mode. The app also allows you to control noise reduction and «transparent» mode.

Another interesting feature is the Sound Zones function. This is a selection of places on the map where the sound or noise reduction will automatically change according to the user’s settings.

The app also allows you to fine-tune the sound to your ears, update the headphone software, and see the instructions and details of the touch controls. The latter can be customized by changing some commands to others.

Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless received relatively small touch zones. They are not very sensitive tactilely, so I had few phantom clicks. At the same time, this does not lead to problems with swipes because the sensors immediately respond to taps. The manufacturer somehow managed to set them up this way, and this is definitely a plus because it is often unintentional touches, volume changes, or track switching that spoil the experience of using TWS headphones. And here everything is fine.

The controls are simple and more or less standard. One tap on the right earbud turns on/off the music or answers a call. One tap on the left — activates «transparent» mode. Two taps on the left and right — switch the track backwards or forwards. Triple tap on the left earbud activates ANC mode, and triple tap on the right earbud activates the voice assistant. A long tap on the left or right earbuds will decrease or increase the volume, respectively.

Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless sound and microphone

The Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless supports SBC, AAC, aptX, and LC3 audio codecs. The manufacturer also talks about the Auracast function. It allows you to share music with other devices nearby.

The earpiece microphones transmit voice normally, but it’s not of high quality. The voice is a bit distorted and muffled, but for video conferencing or just talking on the phone, it’s more than enough.

Out of the box, Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless sound as versatile and detailed as possible, but still have a signature soft bass. It does not interfere with other frequencies at all, but rather enhances the sound and makes it more voluminous. Lively middle frequencies also stand out, the upper frequencies are sufficient, but they do not stick out and are not too «sharp», but only emphasize certain moments.

The width of the stage is adequate, and the separation of instruments is also clearly heard. That is why, and also because of the above-mentioned features, the headphones are suitable for as many genres as possible, be it something with vocals, heavy metal, dance music, ambient, etc. And if you still don’t want enough bass, there’s a separate switch that adds many low frequencies.

Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless autonomous operation

The Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless case has a 420 mAh battery, and each earbud has 55 mAh batteries. The claimed operating time is six hours on a single charge with active noise-canceling and at almost maximum volume. If you turn off ANC and set the volume to medium, you will get 8 hours on a single charge. The case will provide another 2.5 charges, or 20 hours of operation.

In fact, the declared data is true, and I even got more because I usually listened to music at a volume of 20-40% with «transparent» mode or with noise reduction. In such a scenario, I consistently get 8-8.5 hours of operation on a single charge. I think the result is decent.

Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless takes an hour and a half to fully charge. There is also fast charging, which provides an hour of operation after 10 minutes of charging. The headphones can also be charged wirelessly because they support the Qi standard.

User experience

I didn’t expect anything at all from the Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless because I knew very little about them. When the novelty arrived, and I looked at their design, I thought that they would definitely fall out of my ears, as other TWS of similar shapes often did. But it turned out that Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless unexpectedly fit my ears well, and even repeatedly passed the «chewing test».

The main thing is to insert them correctly, so that the main part of the case rested against the edge of the auricle. It seems that they are barely holding on and are about to fall out, but it only seems so. You can walk, run, play sports, and eat in the headphones without any problems, and they will not fall out or will do so very rarely.

I should note that this is just my case, and yours may be different. Everyone’s ears are different, but usually this shape of irregular beans didn’t fit well in my ears, and here everything is fine. This means that those who had it fine may have it even better.

I liked the sound, it’s versatile and has a slightly protruding but soft bass. For me, it was a little too little, so I activated the bass boost button because it suits the genres of music I listen to better. But probably the standard sound will be enough for most people because its feature is this versatility and detail.

Price and competitors

Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless are close to the flagship series in terms of sound, but they are a little cheaper. However, their price tag will still be too high for some, but in my opinion it is adequate. The price for Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless starts at 7700 UAH. For comparison, the flagship Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 is sold at a price of UAH 12,900. However, there are well-known serious models among competitors that are mostly less expensive.

You should pay attention to Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro for Apple users, a good option would probably be Apple AirPods Pro 2nd gen. There are also Sony WF-1000XM5, OnePlus Buds Pro 2, Nothing Ear (2) and Sony LinkBuds S WF-LS900N.
