October bursts in with the biggest releases of the year. In addition to high-profile blockbusters, this month will see the release of several games for the whole family, additions to last year’s hits, and several remasters, including some quite unexpected ones. Silent Hill, and Silent Hill 2 in particular, doesn’t need much advertising or explanation. The series was conceived as a response to Resident Evil, but instead became a self-sufficient project that presented one of the most iconic places in the history of video games — the smoke-filled ghost town of Silent Hill.

After 23 years, the classic is back in a new wrapper, and very soon we will find out whether the Polish developer Bloober Team managed to keep the legacy of the original game intact.

The expansion will introduce fundamental changes to the game’s core mechanics, with the main innovations being the new Nahantu region and the new Spiritborne class, which will make its debut in the series. The protagonist, accompanied by the fairy Gallica, travels the world with the task of breaking the curse of the prince. The latter disappeared a decade ago and is presumed dead. Neva
