Ukraine’s first bidirectional charging station was demonstrated at the exhibition at the International Exhibition Center. It is capable of charging electric vehicles and also meeting the electricity needs of households in the event of power outages. The device was presented by Kyiv-based Octa.
The Octa V2L station supports only Chinese cars in the discharge mode so far. In this mode, it can deliver a current of up to 16 A per phase and supports a power of up to 3.5 kW. This makes it possible to provide backup power for typical households, for example, to power refrigerators, lighting, laptops, or other home appliances. However, this may no longer be sufficient for powerful electric hobs or electric ovens.
The charging process is quite simple – the driver connects the connector to the car, and the station automatically starts charging the car battery. In the event of a power outage, the station can automatically switch to discharging mode, supplying energy from the car to the house. In charging mode, the Octa V2L station supports all electric cars without exception.
Currently, the price of the Octa V2L bidirectional charging station starts at $700.
