The movie “Avengers: Endgame” did not bring a very positive ending for Robert Downey Jr.’s character, but a deleted scene found shows that it could have been different.
It’s about the moment that happens after Tony Stark puts on the Infinity Gauntlet and snaps his fingers — effectively sacrificing his life to defeat Thanos. In a deleted scene, he wakes up in an in-between place to see his daughter Morgan (played here by Katherine Langford) all grown up, so much so that Stark even initially asks if he knows her before realizing who is in front of him.
«Did it work?», — Tony asks, and Morgan answers: «Yes, it worked for me, I can live and grow. As for you, — I can’t answer».
A deep and emotional scene that shows Tony’s realization of what he has done and the turmoil after his decision.
«I’m proud of you», Morgan tells him, and Tony adds.«If you’re happy, I’m happy».
And to increase the degree of emotionality a bit more, Stark says that «loves her 3000», returning to their charming conversation shown earlier in the movie.
The scene didn’t make it into the final 2019 version of the movie, and it appears that a number of Marvel fans have never seen it, judging by the comments:
Marvel is currently preparing two new Avengers movies: «Avengers: Doomsday» (which was previously known as «Avengers: Kang’s Dynasty») will be released in theaters on May 1, 2026, while «Avengers: Secret Wars» will debut on May 7, 2027. Downey Jr. himself, despite the death of Iron Man, will return to the movie universe — as Dr. Doom.
