A first look at the «M3GAN 2.0» — sequel to the killer doll horror movie from Blumhouse

Entertainment Weekly has dropped the first two pics from the upcoming sci-fi flick “M3GAN 2.0”.

One shows the killer doll itself, while the other features an older Cady (Violet McGraw) following in her Aunt Gemma’s (Allison Williams) footsteps, wielding a soldering iron and handling some fine wiring.

The first film, which debuted in January 2023, told the story of how M3GAN, in her quest to “protect” Cady from all surrounding threats, started a brutal killing spree. Though the doll was ultimately decommissioned, as we can see in the image, she looks quite operational in the sequel.

Director Gerard Johnstone mentioned that there were “unused ideas” left in “M3GAN” that became the foundation for the sequel:

“Actually, I had a different idea for the ending, which could have been interesting, but perhaps not as satisfying. In the sequel, I got the chance to expand it into a longer story.”

The rest of the “M3GAN 2.0” cast includes Jen Van Epps, Jemaine Clement, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Timm Sharp, and Aristotle Atari. There were also rumors that Ukrainian actress Ivanna Sakhno would be starring in the film.

Besides the direct sequel, a spinoff titled “SOULM8TE” is also in development, which tells the story of a man who buys an android to cope with the loss of his wife. The film is currently in post-production, directed and written by Kate Dolan, starring Lily Sullivan, David Rysdahl, and Claudia Doumit.

“M3GAN 2.0” is set to hit theaters on June 27, 2025, and the release of “SOULM8TE” is scheduled for January 2, 2026.
