One forward-thinking PlayStation fan found a way to fight the rising prices of PS Plus and spent $2000 to extend his subscription until 2048.

On Reddit (via IGN) user wrotewho plans to play for the rest of his life, and paying in advance will allow him to save money and avoid «absurd price increases».

The PS Plus Essential subscription in the gamer’s region costs $79.99 per year, so he spent about $1919.76 to extend it for 24 years. Then Sony kindly offered the player an 89% discount for upgrading to Premium through a strange loophole with a charge of only $199.99 (i.e., the final amount was $2119).

While the gamer was mostly laughed at in the comments, some noted his logic, as subscription prices are rising everywhere. The last time Sony increased the cost of PS Plus in September 23 from $59.99 to $79.99 for the simplest level.

«This price adjustment will allow us to continue to offer high-quality games and additional benefits for your PlayStation Plus subscription service,» the statement said.

At the time, Sony noted that the price increase was inevitable «and the company had to adapt to market conditions.
