Since yesterday, OpenAI has canceled the registration requirement for one of its popular ChatGPT features.
We are talking about the «Search» option, which allows ChatGPT to include information from the Internet in responses, while also offering a list of references.
For the first time, OpenAI launched the search engine last October for paid users, since December added for all and yesterday — canceled the requirement for mandatory registration.

Thus, «Search» ChatGPT will try to compete with well-known search engines like Google or Bing, or with «smart» AI search engines like Perplexity AI (Perplexity AI also allows you to search the Internet without an account, and recently introduced integration with TripAdvisor).
Against the backdrop of growing competition (in particular, related to the launch of Chinese AI model Deepseek) OpenAI is actively launching previously paid features for the public (in the free version of ChatGPT, there are now available «reasoning model» o3-mini), as well as rumors, plans to reduce the cost of some subscriptions. The startup has also recently updated its chatbot function «deep search», which specializes in in-depth and comprehensive research.
