AMD announces Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D — new processors with 3D V-Cache

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D officially announced. Desktops with 3D V-Cache have configurations of 16 and 12 cores, with TDPs of 170W and 120W, respectively.

This is reported by Videocardz, citing AMD. According to official AMD data, the company’s public presentation at CES 2025 is set to begin at 21:00 Kyiv time.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor has a clock speed of 5.7 GHz, the same as the 9950X variant, and a TDP of 170W. It has a total cache of 144MB — significantly more than the non-X3D version, which has 80MB of cache. The 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X3D has a clock speed of 5.5 GHz — 100 MHz lower than the 9900X. It has a total cache of 140MB compared to 76MB in the non-3D V-Cache model, and has the same TDP of 120W.

AMD also shared test results of the processors compared to other chips. According to official data, AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D is 8% faster in games compared to AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D (based on tests in 40 games with high settings at 1080p) and 20% faster than Intel Core Ultra 9 285K. In content creation, it surpasses Ryzen 9 7950X3D by 13% and the same Intel processor by 10% (based on a test of 20 applications).

Prices and release dates for these processors have not been announced, although AMD confirms availability in the first quarter of 2025.
