A few days ago, the first rumors surfaced that AMD was considering releasing a Radeon RX 9070 GRE graphics card. Now the first reports about the characteristics have appeared
The rumors arose just when the stocks of Radeon RX 9070 (not XT) were exhausted in the Chinese market. The general opinion of many commentators is that AMD does not intend to restock this video card, as there is already another model available. Pros data According to ITHome, which cites its own sources, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE is indeed being prepared for release. An exclusive for the Chinese market is not excluded, but there have been cases when AMD made GRE models publicly available (RX 7900 GRE).
The media does not yet have the specifications of this video card: it is rumored to have a 192-bit memory bus and, as a result, is equipped with 12 GB of GDDR6. For comparison, the RX 9060 XT was previously confirmed to have a 128-bit bus.
The potential RX 9070 GRE is capable of filling the gap between the existing RX 9070 and 9060, and will match the characteristics of NVIDIA RTX 5070 memory. Historically, GRE models have been offered in the Chinese market through lack of video cards of the main AMD lines. For example, the reduced supply of the RX 7600 XT was covered by the RX 6750 GRE. Probably, the 9070 GRE will make it easier to sales situation 9070, as well as the upcoming RX 9060.
