SBU Cyberpolice and SBU operatives detained a 47-year-old resident of Kharkiv region on suspicion of aiding a terrorist country: the businessman allegedly helped the occupiers to set up civilian radar satellites.
We are talking about «Condor-FKA» and «Obzor-R», which were launched into orbit in 2023 to conduct round-the-clock reconnaissance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and adjust strikes on the positions of the Ukrainian military.
The detained man, staying in Kharkiv during 2023-2024, allegedly «provided remote setup, calibration and adjustment of specialized radar equipment, which was subsequently integrated to space satellites, which were tested at a special test site in the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation.
It turned out that the man is the director of a legal entity registered in Russia and has ties to representatives of «Roscosmos», and also received a Russian passport and supported the ideological aggression of the occupying country against Ukraine.
The SBU conducted 14 authorized searches at the residences of the suspect and his possible accomplices: documents, seals, computer equipment and electronic media, as well as foreign currency funds (in particular, Russian rubles, totaling about UAH 11 million) were seized.
The man faces up to 12 years in prison on suspicion of aiding the aggressor state under Part 1 of Art. 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (however, additional qualification is possible, the investigation is still ongoing).
