Apple iPhone 17 Pro will get a powerful processor and evaporation chamber, and 17 Air will not be so thin, — leaks

Published by Andrii Rusanov

The A19 Pro chip in the upcoming Apple iPhone 17 Pro and Pro will require better cooling. As for the iPhone 17 Air, its thickness will vary greatly in different places.

Until now, Apple has ignored the evaporation chamber as a means of cooling the iPhone, which could reduce processor trotting. According to rumors, the company will introduce an evaporation chamber in the top-end iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. This was reported by Wccftech with reference to an insider Setsuna Digital. Premium Android flagships have been shipping with similar cooling systems for some time now.

The leaker does not mention the evaporative chamber in the cheaper iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air, which suggests that the cheaper models will not get it. Other leaks mention the A19 Pro processor in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The upcoming chip is likely to use TSMC’s third-generation 3nm N3P process, which will provide performance improvements over existing Apple processors. Leaks about the company’s M5 chip, which has allegedly already gone into mass production, also on N3P, suggest a 10% increase in energy efficiency and a 5% increase in performance. Earlier it was also reported that Apple iPhone 17 Pro will receive 7.5W reverse wireless charging.

Unofficial data about the iPhone 17 Air reveals its thickness. Apparently, fans will be somewhat disappointed by the claim that its camera module will be about the same thickness as the current models. It is expected that the iPhone Air will allegedly will be only 5.5 mm thick — but not all of it.

As noted by Wccftech, the Information report claims that the iPhone 17 Air will be about 6 mm thick — slightly thicker than the iPhone 6 of a decade ago (5.9 mm). For comparison, the new iPad Pro OLEDs are 5.1 mm and 5.3 mm thick. Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the phone will be only 5.5 mm thick, while Jeff Pu says 6 mm at the thinnest part.

Another well-known insider Ice Universe claims that the camera protrusion on the iPhone 17 Air will be 4 mm thick. Together with the aforementioned body thickness, this is 9.5 mm. The ultra-thin iPhone is expected to have a single camera lens on a prominent protrusion all around.
