Apple TV+ has renewed the series «Slow Horses» for a sixth season — even before the fifth season was released

One of the most successful Apple TV+ series is getting a sequel.

The espionage thriller «Slow Horses» tells the story of a department of misfit spies led by eccentric boss Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman). So far, four seasons have been released on the platform (with the latest debuted in September), and the fifth was ordered for production in January.

According to Deadlinein the sixth season, spies will turn into fugitives — after Diane Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) draws everyone into a «game of retribution and revenge». The sequel will be based on Mick Herron’s novels «Joe Country» and «Slough House» — the sixth and seventh books in the series.

«Slow Horses» was a huge success for Apple TV+, earning BAFTA nominations for Oldman and his co-star Jack Lowden, as well as «Emmy» for screenwriter Will Smith.

The series is directed by Adam Randall («I See You») and also stars Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chang, Aimee-Fiona Edwards, Cudiff Kirwan and Jonathan Pryce, Hugo Weaving, Joanna Scanlan, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke and James Callis.

The fifth season is expected to air in 2025.
