Beta version BIOS 3.20 for ASRock motherboards should fix the problems with a «small proportion of AMD Ryzen 9000 series». The manufacturer believes that rumors of problems are exaggerated.

In the official statement, the company says that the processors are unable to load and error codes, but not that they are out of order. The other day many users have reported that their Ryzen 7 9800X3Ds stop working (some even have more than one copy). However, reports of «resuscitation» of some processors after «rollback» BIOS to some extent confirm ASRock’s words. There are also problems with were found on boards from other manufacturers and other X3D processors.

«ASRock® … has observed reports on Reddit from users experiencing unexpected boot issues and error codes when using ASRock AM5 motherboards paired with minority proportion of AMD Ryzen™ 9000 series processors. To enhance user experience, ASRock promptly released the latest 3.20 Beta BIOS for its AM5 series motherboards, further improving AMD Ryzen™ 9000 series processors boot issues», — the company’s website says.

ASRock’s Japan office specify an issue on X and talks about disinformation. It is allegedly about memory compatibility, and the chips do not actually burn. The company also promises more information later.

«We will publish an official release with more details later, but just a note as misinformation is being spread! Bottom line: it [the CPU] is not broken. Some CPUs will not start due to memory incompatibility issues. There have been many reports of sudden Ryzen 7 9800X3D malfunctions. At least 40 or more, which are found mainly among ASRock» motherboards, — the company’s Japanese branch specifies in X.

If ASRock’s BIOS 3.20 update works, you should expect reports of «resurrected» processors. In any case, it’s too early to write them off. Of course, if the Ryzen 7 9800X3Ds don’t actually burn out, as in other cases not related to this issue.
