Xbox has opened pre-orders for Obsidian Entertainment’s fantasy RPG Avowed with a rather unexpected pricing policy.
Steam greeted Ukrainian players with a salty price tag of ₴2999 for the standard edition and ₴3499 for the premium edition. Such a price caused a flurry of discussions in the community, especially against the background of prices in other regions.
In an interesting twist, in the Russian region, the game initially cost about ₴900, but Microsoft quickly corrected this «error», completely closing the purchase option for Russians.
Polish players are also surprised — in their region, the price reaches 348 zlotys (approximately ₴3500), which is one of the highest in Europe.
The Xbox version, on the other hand, is much more wallet-friendly — approximately ₴1800. Only the PC region is officially available in Ukraine from Xbox, but thanks to the Xbox Play Anywhere program, players can enjoy the game on both PC and console after purchasing it from the Xbox Store.
PC Game Pass subscribers will get access to Avowed immediately after the release on February 18, 2025 for the usual ₴230 per month.
The developers have also published system requirements for Avowed. For a comfortable game, you will need an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel i5-8400 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a video card not worse than AMD RX 5700 or NVIDIA GTX 1070. For maximum settings, the developers recommend more powerful AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel i7-10700K and graphics adapters of the RX 6800 XT or RTX 3080 class. In both cases, you need to have 75 GB of free disk space.
The standard edition contains the basic version of the game. Instead, the premium edition for ₴3499 offers up to five days of early access and two exclusive skin packs.
The first set — Eora Collection Set — draws inspiration from the characters of the Pillars of Eternity universe, where Avowed is set. The second — Obsidian Collection Set — adds stylish black costumes for companions. Players will also receive a digital artbook and the game’s soundtrack. If desired, owners of the standard edition will be able to upgrade to the premium version for an additional fee.
For collectors, a special tabletop edition with a physical map of the world and a metal case is available, although the game itself is still presented in digital format.
