The role-playing RPG Avowed offers a unique approach to character customization — turning heroes into incredible mushroom-like creatures. Although there have been attempts that were more reminiscent of Skyrim’s Argonians after a stormy night than mushroom fever.
There are two races available for the player — humans and elves, but the character editor allows for interesting customization. Users on Reddit have shown an amazing level of detail with moss and mushrooms on their heads. Players have created bizarre mushroom colonies on their faces (or something unexplainable, like sleeping at 39°C).

At first, it seemed that Avowed would not have romantic relationships, but the developers added this feature. The protagonist can start an affair with the merman Kai, voiced by Brandon Keener (the voice of Garrus from Mass Effect). For this to happen, you need to treat him well, complete a personal quest, and confess your feelings at the right time. After the end credits, you will receive confirmation that your character and Kai are a couple.
Players can also flirt with other characters, but this will not lead to a full-fledged romance, the developers decided to give up romantic relationships (thanks to the friend zone in games). At Obsidian believe that Baldur’s Gate 3 and Avowed are successful due to completely different walkthroughs and hidden content and not just novels.
The long-awaited RPG will be released soon, but for Ukrainian players, the price on Steam is «— ₴1999 for the standard and ₴2499 for the premium edition. Although the price cheaper by ₴1000 than it was at the beginning of pre-orders. The full release of Avowed will take place on February 18 on PC and Xbox Series, including Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.
