«Captain America» is in trouble: test screening of the movie with Anthony Mackie failed, and Marvel plans to «reshoot something else

Previous test screenings of «Captain America» with Anthony Mackie have already led to extensive reshoots — in the summer «updating» at least three major action scenes and introducing new characters, but these efforts do not seem to have benefited the new Marvel superhero movie.

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman (via World of Reel), despite the fact that «Captain America: Brave New World» is due to debut in less than three (!) months, the filming is still underway. All — because of the failure of the third test screening. The previous ones, we recall, rated the film as «insignificant» and «flat». The reactions of the latter are not mentioned, but given the regular reshoots (they were previously confirmed by Giancarlo Esposito), the result was hardly better.

There are also rumors that Marvel fires original director Julius Vaughn — at least he didn’t appear at either D23 or D23 Brazil during the presentation of «Captain America», which further fuels them.

As a reminder, the film’s budget is already close to $400 million — a huge amount, given that this year’s «Deadpool and Wolverine» which attracted many stars to the cast, cost $200 million.

In «Captain America: Brave New World» Anthony Mackie took the lead role, while Harrison Ford played the Red Hulk. The rest of the cast — includes Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Shira Haas and Tim Blake Nelson, among others. The film is scheduled to premiere in February 2025.
