Recently, several new features have appeared in Windows 11 builds on the developer channels noticeable changes and improvements, which will soon be available in Windows 11 24H2.
In build KB5050103Z, the battery display in the system tray has become more dynamic, colorful, and useful. The colors quickly inform you about the battery status, and there is a digital battery level indicator next to it. No need to move the cursor to it to see the percentage.
The black and white icon indicates a neutral battery state, when the notebook is using the battery normally without being connected to a charger. A yellow icon appears when the notebook is in battery saving mode. Green indicates that the notebook is charging. There is also a red critically low battery icon.
The percentage display next to the icon can be turned on and off via Settings > Power & battery. Microsoft notes that «is a highly coveted feature among» insiders and customers. Indeed, there is a tangible difference between repeatedly moving the cursor and just looking at the corner of the screen. This convenience is well known to phone users, but for some reason, Windows 11 hasn’t had it yet.
The Windows 11 Beta Channel 22635.4800 build has been assigned the «Recommended» section in «Explorer». It’s disabled by default, but you can easily enable it in the folder settings. The «Recommended» section will start to appear on the «Home tab». It shows files from both your local computer and OneDrive, based on recent user activity and account statistics.
During testing, the «Recommended» section shows only the most recent files: screenshots taken, most recently opened, etc. However, it is expected that the feature will provide better recommendations in the finished version.
The Snap window snapping feature is activated by pulling a window to the top of the screen. Currently, the feature simply shows options for positioning windows on the screen. In the new version, it will show a text hint and a keyboard shortcut to call it (this is how the news author found out about this shortcut).
Microsoft is currently testing different variants of the tooltip, but the structure is the same for all of them: a message on the left, a key combination on the right.
The menu «Start» will get a new grouping format in the form of a tile on the screen «All programs». It will have categories for programs.
In addition, in the «Start» menu, you can view information from your phone: recent photos, messages, calls, etc. The interface will have a button for sending files to the phone.
As reported by Windows LatestThese test features will soon be available in Windows 11 24H2.
