The upcoming sequel to the Control game by Remedy Entertainment, called Control 2, will be made in the action-RPG genre.
The developer announced the sequel to its surreal action game back in 2022, calling it an «unexpected journey». Since then, details about the game have remained limited, but in August 2024, Remedy announced that «important features of» Control 2 are already in «playable form». The studio has now confirmed that the game will have RPG elements.
In the same post, the developers announced that Control Ultimate Edition will be released for Mac on February 12, and early next year, the original Control will receive a free update with previously released content.
As for Control 2, there are few exact details yet, but fans suspect that The Lake House DLC for Alan Wake 2 may contain hints of the upcoming game.
Remedy is also working on a spin-off of Control — FBC: Firebreak, a three-player cooperative game scheduled for release in 2025. The game will be available on PC and consoles and will be available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day.
Meanwhile, sales Alan Wake 2 has exceeded 1.8 million copies. Remedy said that the game is close to recouping its development and marketing costs, 12 months after its release.
