Diesel cars are losing popularity in Ukraine: -26% year-on-year, especially sales of used cars

In October, Ukrainians bought almost 5.7 thousand cars with diesel engines. This is 26% less than in the same period of 2023.

New cars account for about 1.5 thousand of the total number of models with diesel internal combustion engines. Thus, last month, diesel models accounted for 26% of the total new passenger car market, compared to 20% in October 2023.

Compared to October of the previous year, their number increased by 31%. At the same time, the share of used diesel cars imported from abroad is 74% – 4.2 thousand, which is 36% less than in October 2023. Among the imported used cars, the share of diesel cars was 25%, which is 5 percentage points less than last year, and their average age was 10.5 years.
