Dune: Awakening / Funcom
Two months are left before the release of Dune: Awakening, so Funcom has told us what «hardware» you can use to try the adventures on Arrakis.
As you know, Dune: Awakening will make players survive in the open world «Dune», and the basic edition will cost $49.99 and will not require a subscription. There will be several DLCs with early access on May 15, while the main release is scheduled for May 20. Funcom assures that Dune: Awakening will receive content updates for free. DLC can also be purchased separately or together as part of a season pass. Soon, the developers will hold a conference, so they may reveal the pre-order date and more about different editions.
Dune: Awakening, in addition to traditional graphical settings, will also feature integration with Razer Chroma RGB and Razer Sensa HD Haptics tactile feedback. Imagine Razer Kraken V4 Pro headphones flashing lights and creating tactile effects in sync. And if you’re flying an ornithopter, the special Freyja pad will transmit realistic vibrations. You can also fully customize the controls, change the interface, adjust the field of view (FOV), and choose whether you want motion blur or camera shake.
Two months before the release, the creators published a list of system requirements, which shows that the game will be quite demanding. However, with some settings, it will be able to run on relatively old «hardware». Separately, the developers confirmed that the game will support AMD FSR 3, Intel XeSS 2, and NVIDIA DLSS 4. This means that owners of both AMD and Intel graphics cards will be able to improve performance without significant loss of image quality.

Dune: Awakening looks like a large and ambitious project from Funcom. The game will feature modern frame scaling technologies, integration with Razer Chroma, a rich set of graphical settings, and a subscription-free business model. Earlier, the creators discussed alternative time period and the plot, although they are afraid that the players will not condemn this idea. They also revealed many other details of the gameplay. It remains to be seen how well it will work in practice.
