EA Sports FC 25 conquers the charts, mobile projects generate 50% of revenue — gaming industry in 2024 in numbers

Analytical publication GamesIndustry.biz published its annual report on the state of the video game industry in 2024. Leading research companies, including Newzoo, Circana, Nielsen GfK, Sensor Tower, and Famitsu, contributed to the report.

In 2024, the gambling market grew by 0.2% compared to the previous year and reached $184.3 billion Mobile games remain the most profitable segment of the market, accounting for half of all industry revenues. Console projects brought in 27% of revenue, and games for personal computers — 23%.

Digital distribution continues to displace traditional media. Physical copies of console games account for only 16% of total sales.

According to Sensor Tower, the United States became the largest market for mobile games, Japan took the second place, and China was third. Tencent, miHoYo, and NetEase are the leading mobile game publishers.

In the UK, according to Nielsen GfK, EA Sports FC 25 was the most popular game of the year. In the United States, according to Circana statistics, EA Sports College Football 25 is the leader. In Japan, according to Famitsu, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
