Chinese automotive giant BYD has announced new electric-powered cars: the Han L sedan and the Tang L crossover. These high-end electric vehicles showcase the brand’s new design language and offer an incredible level of performance with their new 30,000 rpm electric motors.
The BYD Han L sedan, although somewhat similar to its predecessor, has a more aggressive appearance. Elongated headlights connected by a chrome insert, door handles recessed into the body, and an elegant roofline create an aerodynamic profile. A LiDAR sensor on the roof hints at advanced driver assistance capabilities. The Han L measures 5050 mm in length, 1960 mm in width and 1505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2970 mm, making it slightly larger than the standard Han sedan.
Han L offers a range of powertrain options. The rear-wheel drive version is equipped with a powerful 500 kW (670 hp) electric motor. However, there is also an all-wheel drive version with two electric motors with a total output of 810 kW (1085 hp). Thanks to this engine combination, the all-wheel drive Han L accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.
Alternative powertrain options are available. BYD also offers the Han L with hybrid powertrains (PHEV). The DM-i variant combines a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine with a 200 kW (268 hp) electric motor. The DM-p variant adds a 200 kW electric motor for even more power.
The BYD Tang L crossover has slim LED running lights and headlights integrated into the front bumper, giving it a slightly futuristic look. Other interesting features include an active air intake and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. The Tang L’s dimensions are 5040 mm long, 1996 mm wide and 1760 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2950 mm. This makes it significantly larger than the standard Tang SUV.
Similar to the Han L, the Tang L offers both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions of the electric powertrain. The all-wheel drive version offers the same 810 kW (1,085 hp) output. This allows the Tang L to achieve acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The start of sales and prices of the new BYD Han L and Tang L have not yet been disclosed.
