Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, was, without exaggeration, a cult figure before he became involved in political activity. But then something inexplicably changed for him.
Musk published a post on his own social network X, in which he is surprised by the situation. He mentions his own peacefulness and the excellent equipment produced by the companies he owns. He also answers his own question, but more on that later.
«My companies make great products that people love, and I have never physically harmed anyone. So why the hatred and violence against me?»
Musk’s fears are not exaggerated. ITC.ua has repeatedly reported on vandalism of Tesla cars, harassment Cybertruck owners and the rest of the company’s models, which forced to hide the brand of his car, arson attacks on shops and so on. Someone even created a database and interactive map owners of Tesla cars, its stores and charging stations, as well as employees Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), headed by Musk. Tesla is losing customers, profits, and prestige — the company is actually kicked out of a car dealership in Vancouver. These cases of violence and human rights violations are hardly examples to follow, but what motivates people to do so?
There are several answers. First, modern developed societies do not tolerate Nazism and anything that might be similar to it. Even if a person claims not to be a Nazi, but allows himself to make Nazi-like gestures and proclaim or support Nazi-like statements — this will not add to your reputation. Even if a person means something else. Elon Musk has repeatedly allowed himself to do such things, and thus harmed himself.
The second is political activity and statements. Even before the announcement support for Donald Trump Musk has repeatedly spoken out about many issues, including foreign policy. He is openly rude to heads of state and has even been caught promoting Kremlin narratives created by specific Russians. Not everyone likes all this either.
And the involvement in the policies of the current U.S. administration, which is also disliked by many and causes a diametrically opposite reaction in American society. Americans seem to be most concerned about the activities of DOGE, which radically interferes with the work of government agencies. All of this has created an explosive mix of real hate for Musk that can be observed.
Now let’s see how Elon Musk himself answers his question below in the same post X:
«Because I pose a mortal threat to the parasite of the awakened mind and the people it controls», Musk writes.
It is unlikely that the businessman and politician meant to actually harm or even kill someone. But the post literally says «mortal threat» to people with different views. Will this next unrestrained statement add to Musk’s popularity and reconcile him with his opponents?
