Enthusiast creates silent NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti with 65W consumption

A Reddit user shared about the NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti modification for fanless operation.

Previously, enthusiast a0910115172 attempted to add an RTX 4070 to his silent build, but it proved too complex. The minimum voltage of the RTX 4070 “was limited to 910 mV, resulting in suboptimal energy efficiency at low consumption.” Switching to the RTX 4060 Ti allowed for a voltage of 860 mV through vBIOS (as in the RTX 4060 without Ti).

The Asus TUF RTX 4060 Ti was chosen for the modification as it offers one of the largest heatsinks. It is two slots wide, 30 cm long, and has four heat pipes.

The frequencies of the GPU and memory were limited to 1200 MHz and 5001 MHz respectively to keep power consumption at 65 watts. The system operated very stably, with GPU temperatures holding up to 90°C, and the hotspot temperature was 102°C.

The graphics card scored only 6621 points in 3DMark Time Spy. Increasing the active GPU frequency to 1800 MHz allowed for a score of 8588 points. Even with new graphite thermal pads, the temperature rose to 90°C (limit value) and 103°C at the hotspot.

The experimenter wanted to reduce dust accumulation in the PC so that the video card would not interfere with listening to music and to simply create a fanless PC.
