FX has released an excerpt from «Alien: Earth — —, a new project in the Alien franchise that takes place two years before the events of Ridley Scott’s original 1979 film «Alien».
Despite the fact that we were shown several teasers of — one from the point of view of a xenomorphand the other from a cat that looked a lot like Jonesy — the last clip provides more details that capture the suspense and scenery that made the franchise beloved and recognizable to many.
«Let me in! It’s coming!», — one of the women in the video shouts to another man, who anxiously updates the crew’s status in the system, and the next moment is already under attack by the xenomorph.
This is the first full look at the alien lifeform in the series, which showrunner Noah Hawley («Fargo») teasedas a new and somewhat different species:
«There is something about seeing a xenomorph in the wilds of the Earth with your own eyes. I was interested in really communicating with the creature, putting some of my own thoughts into the design without touching the silhouette because it’s sacred. I just wanted to play a little bit to make everything exactly as scary as it should be».
According to the official synopsis of the series, after a crash landing, the crew members search for survivors among the wreckage, but instead encounter mysterious predatory life forms — and what the team decides to do about this threat could change the Earth forever. The series stars Sidney Chandler, Alex Lauter, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blankin, Babu Sisi, David Risdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Amir Butus, Karen Aldridge and others.
«Alien: Earth» doesn’t have an exact premiere date yet, but it is tentatively scheduled for summer 2025.
