Fake payments of UAH 1000: how fraudsters deceive Ukrainians on social media

Published by Vadym Karpus

Last week, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the payment of assistance to Ukrainian citizens in the amount of UAH 1000. Fraudsters immediately took advantage of this news story to once again deceive gullible citizens. This was reported by ITC.UA with reference to Ministry of Social Policy.

Thus, fraudulent links are being circulated on social media, in particular in Telegram channels. They actually lead to fake accounts of the Ministry of Social Policy, which allegedly promise to pay UAH 1,000 from the state. On these resources, fraudsters are trying to obtain bank card details of Ukrainians in order to withdraw money from them.

«The Ministry of Social Policy appeals to all citizens and media that may disseminate this information: DO NOT trust such messages and DO NOT click on the corresponding links.

These are fraudulent resources, the transition to which requires personal card data, as a result of which fraudsters can gain access to your funds,» the ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry of Social Policy emphasizes that all reliable information on the registration of financial support in the amount of UAH 1000 will be posted on the official resources of the Government. At the same time, the opportunity to receive UAH 1 thousand under the «Winter eSupport» program will be carried out through the official application «Diia».
