Production of the eighth part of the franchise «Mission impossible» ongoing in the UK for over 20 months.
By information insider Jordan Rumi, viewers will see the trailer and learn the title of the new movie in the coming weeks. The video may be shown in cinemas before the start of the screenings «Gladiator 2» (premiered in Ukraine on November 14).
This project is of great importance for Paramount. The previous part of the series is — «Mission Impossible: Reckoning. Part One» — despite grossing $567 million, caused the studio to lose more than $200 million due to an excessively high budget.
Filming of the eighth installment resumed in March 2024 after a forced break due to a strike by actors and screenwriters last July. Recently, the production has again stopped due to a malfunction of a submarine worth $25 million.
Director Christopher McQuarrie said that about 40% of the footage had been shot before the strike, including scenes in Africa and the Arctic.
In early summer, Paramount changed the premiere date from June 2024 to May 23, 2025. The company also refused from the original name «Mission impossible: Reckoning. Part Two» in favor of a new one that has not yet been announced.
For data journalist Matthew Belloni, the film’s budget has already exceeded $300 million and will continue to grow in the coming weeks and months.
As a reminder, the first «Mission Impossible» movie was released in 1996, and since then the series has continued to captivate audiences. The main character of all parts of the franchise is Agent Ethan Gantt, played by Tom Cruise.
