Published by Margarita Yuzyak

After years of rumors and leaks, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion has finally been revealed — and this time officially.

On the website of Virtuos studio, which is working on the project, we found the first screenshots and a comparison of the updated version with the original from 2006. The full title has also been confirmed: The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered.

The remaster is being created on Unreal Engine 5 and will not be limited to a graphical upgrade. According to previous leaks from former Virtuos employees, the game will receive updated mechanics of endurance, stealth, blocking, archery, and reaction to blows. The interface has also been redesigned — a new HUD with health, weapons, etc. is expected.

Moreover, as Eurogamer notes, a shadow release is planned, i.e. without a preliminary large-scale campaign, directly to Game Pass. Another well-known informant NateTheHate also mentioned a release date closer to April 21, so far, everything points to a quick launch.

The project has surfaced in various leaks: back in 2020, it was mentioned in an internal Microsoft document, and in 2023 — it came into the spotlight again during an FTC hearing with Phil Spencer. At that time, it was described as a simple remaster, but now it is clear that it is a full-fledged reimagining on a new engine with updated gameplay. Other insiders hinted at a release in January this year but now April has a better chance.
