The Top Gear show is over, but its famous racer, known as Stig, continues to amaze with his antics. The latest of them includes a race on the 1400 hp Ford SuperVan demonstrator electric car on the legendary Top Gear track.
The 1400-horsepower SuperVan has already set records on iconic tracks. But watching this large racing van, reminiscent of a Ford Transit with hypercar-like performance, never gets boring.
In this video from the official Top Gear YouTube channel, the square racing Ford has gained an additional 600 peak horsepower in its latest 4.2 version, bringing the total output to an impressive 2000 hp. Stig, for his part, is using all that power in an attempt to set a lap record.
Although the shape and aerodynamics of the Ford SuperVan are not optimized for setting speed records, 2000 hp under the hood can do wonders. Unfortunately, even with 2000 hp, instant torque, and over 1800 kg of aerodynamic downforce, the van was unable to break the leaders’ records: Renault R24 (a Formula 1 car) and Lotus T125 Exos (a track car that looks like a real Formula 1 car). Nevertheless, with a time of 1:05.3, the Ford SuperVan took third place in the overall ranking. It was ahead of such well-known brands in the sports world as McLaren and Pagani, Aston Martin.
In the video, the race itself starts at 4 minutes. Then you can watch it from inside the car. And from the 8th minute, you can see what 2000 hp is capable of when Stig is not forced to complete the fastest lap, but can have fun, skid the car in a corner and spin «donuts» in drifting.
This third place will probably remain forever with the SuperVan in the Top Gear table, as the track itself is likely to be demolished soon.
