Garmin releases Instinct 3 Tactical Edition – a military smartwatch with ballistics from $500

Garmin has pleased its fans with the release of a new «spy» gadget – the Instinct 3 Tactical Edition smartwatch. Compared to the standard Garmin Instinct 3The Tactical version has a reinforced metal frame for better durability. The case is completely black — no neon inserts like the regular model.

The Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical Edition smartwatch is available in two sizes and with two display options. The smaller 45-mm version is equipped with a MIP screen and solar charging. The larger model has a 50 mm brighter AMOLED screen.

When it comes to the «spy» features of the Tactical Edition, they are a bit like James Bond’s tools:

• Night Vision Goggle Mode — reduces the screen brightness to a level that is comfortable for the user but almost invisible to others.
• Kill Switch — allows you to instantly reset the watch to factory settings, including GPS data and health information.
• The Applied Ballistics ballistic calculator (activated at an additional cost) — will show you how wind and altitude affect a shot. This can be useful for hunters (and not only for them).

Another difference from the standard Garmin Instinct 3 model is the new rucking sport mode (walking with a heavy backpack). Although it is already being added to other new Garmin models through updates.

In addition, the Tactical Edition version received all the features and capabilities of the basic Garmin Instinct 3 model, such as heart rate and physical activity monitoring, advanced GPS navigation, a huge number of sports modes, a built-in LED flashlight, TracBack navigation to return to your own footsteps, Race Calendar with personalized training.

The price of Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical Edition is $499.99 for the 45-mm version and $599.99 for the 50-mm modification. This model can be useful for those who really use its additional features. For example, hunters or the military will appreciate the Kill Switch and ballistic calculator.
