Global redesign of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS: Apple is preparing the biggest changes in a decade

Published by Vadym Karpus

According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to significantly update the look of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS operating systems. The changes are expected later this year.

The design update of the operating systems will take place along with the release of iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16. These changes will affect many aspects of the OS. According to Bloomberg, Apple is working on updating the style of icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons. The company also seeks to simplify interaction with devices and make software more unified. The new design is expected to be partially inspired by the visionOS aesthetics of the Vision Pro headset.

Bloomberg notes that the redesign will be the largest for macOS since macOS Big Sur and the largest for iOS since the launch of iOS 7. At the same time, Apple has no plans to merge its operating systems.

The company is expected to officially present the update at the Worldwide Developers Conference, which traditionally takes place in June. However, the exact date of the event has not yet been announced.

Apple has not yet commented on this information.

It is worth noting that this is not the first rumor about Apple’s plans to redesign iOS. Last year, too was reportedthat iOS 18 will be similar to visionOS.
