Pixel 9a / Google
Probably, Google has decided to act in a race against the clock with rumors that fully revealed the new smartphone. Pixel 9a presented officially, but it will be available later.
The inexpensive phone shares the same design language as other Pixel 9 devices, but it lacks a high camera protrusion. The Pixel 9a’s screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has flat edges that extend into a flat aluminum frame, and the back is also flat. The smartphone is very different from the more rounded Pixel 8a. The body is IP68-rated for dust and water protection.
Pixel 9a has a slightly larger 6.3″ pOLED display with a resolution of 2424×1080 and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The new display has a brightness of 1800 nits in HDR (measured at 100% of the screen area) and up to 2700 nits of peak brightness (at 5% of the area). The display supports HDR, but with a limited 8-bit color depth, and has an optical fingerprint scanner.
The smartphone is powered by Google’s Tensor G4 processor, like all Pixel 9s, with a Titan M2 security chip. It has 8 GB of memory and a choice of 128 GB or 256 GB of storage.
The phone has a redesigned camera system. The previous 64MP main camera from the Pixel 7a and 8a has been replaced with a 48MP f/1.7 camera with Quad PD Dual Pixel AF and optical stabilization. It is capable of recording 4K video at up to 60 frames per second. The ultra-wide-angle camera has the same 13 MP f/2.2. As before, it is limited to 4K video at 30 frames per second. Pixel 9a has several new features for photography. It’s the first A-series phone to feature Macro Focus, which allows you to capture details up close. It’s also the first A-series phone to feature Google’s Astrophotography feature.
Google Pixel 9a has a larger 5100 mAh lithium-ion battery with a claimed battery life of over 30 hours. It supports «fast» 33W wired charging, as well as 7.5W wireless Qi support. The Pixel 9a comes with Android 15 out of the box with all of Google’s new AI features. Like other Pixels, it will have seven years of OS and security updates from launch.
The smartphone will be available in Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris, and Peony colors, but not all of them will be available in specific regions. Pixel 9a costs $499 — $100 less than the Apple iPhone 16e. However, to see its owners will be able to only in April, and a possible reason is known. 91mobiles says that Google has told some tech publications that it’s checking out a component quality issue in a small number of Pixel 9a. We hope it’s not the battery, as in the recently recalled Pixel 4a.
