Rating of demos on «New Release Festivals» Steam

Let’s start with the cult role-playing game Gothic 1 Remake, as it was met with an unequivocally positive response from players. In almost 5000 Steam reviews, fans mostly praise the game.

«Fortunately, this game seems to have a dedicated team that understands the spirit of Gothic much better than other third-party studios in the past. So it’s great to report that this demo perfectly captures the tone and feel of the first area», — a player wrote in one of the reviews.

Players liked the gloomy atmosphere that captures the spirit of the original. The updated combat gameplay was also positively received. In fact, the demo is a separate prologue (not part of the game), which tells a new story on behalf of the character Niras. On the eve of the festival, the developers of Alkimia Interactive showed on Steam 30-minute gameplay.

Mecha BREAK — a dynamic PvP shooter that allows you to control giant mechs took the first place in popularity. The game was presented at The Game Awards 2024.

Mecha BREAK reached a peak of 300,000 simultaneous players. Mostly Chinese gamers criticized it because of server problems, too long a training mode, and aggressive monetization. The game received mostly negative reviews on Steam.

The second place is taken by Dune: Awakening, a large-scale multiplayer game from Funcom. The studio has prepared survival in the deserts of Arrakis, construction of bases, and the fight against other players and sand worms.

Shortly before the festival of demos, the developers published a character editor and answered questions. The demo was a great success, especially about worms. The demo left mixed feelings: the game world and character customization were highly appreciated, but technical problems and some aspects of the gameplay need to be improved.

Solarpunk, which took the fourth place, is a survival game. Players are offered to build eco-friendly settlements on floating islands, including growing plants and exploring distant islands with their own airship.

The game’s demo received mixed reviews. Many people liked the style and atmosphere of the game, but the game still has technical flaws.

Tempest Rising, a classic real-time strategy RTS, rounds out the top five in the spirit of classic Command & Conquer. An alternate history with the consequences of nuclear war, familiar mechanics, and cool visual style made the game popular among fans of the genre. However, some gamers complain about balance and technical issues.
