On the night of February 3, the «Grammy-2025» music awards ceremony took place, where, among other things, the best movie and video game soundtracks were recognized.

«Dune 2» won in the category «Best Soundtrack to a Motion Picture or TV Series» with the work of composer Hans Zimmer, bypassing «Shogun» and «Rivals» in particular. Earlier, the music from Denis Villeneuve’s film recognized «unsuitable» for «Oscar» due to «exceeding the limit on originality» (the music seems to have borrowed more than 20% of the already released themes and contains «significant elements» from Zimmer’s work in the first film). At the same time the second «Dune» received five nominations for the main film award (but again without a director’s room)

Meanwhile, among the games, Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord with music by Winifred Phillips — a remake of the 1981 RPG classic developed by Digital Eclipse (the cult role-playing game was transferred to modern graphics, but retained the main elements of the gameplay). Wizardry outperformed such competitors as God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Star Wars Outlaws, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

As for the main awards, this year’s «Grammy» was won by Kendrick Lamar with five awards (Best Record and Song of the Year, Rap Song, Music Video and Rap Performance), while Beyoncé, who was the leader in the number of nominations, received only three, including «Album of the Year».
