Greetings from «Ukrzaliznytsia»: hackers hacked Moscow metro online services and added a plug in Ukrainian

Published by Kateryna Danshyna

As reported by dev.uawith links to Russian websites, since 6 am the online systems of the Moscow metro have been down, and interestingly enough, they have been issuing messages about a technical failure on behalf of «Ukrzaliznytsia».

Users allegedly cannot replenish and view their cards, nor can payments be processed through validators, while when the official website of the Moscow metro opens, a message about the failure from «Ukrzaliznytsia» is loaded.

«Our online systems are experiencing a technical failure. The app and ticketing website have been restored, but there may still be interruptions. We are currently stabilizing the systems», — the message says.

So the text is the same as what Ukrainian users saw during the four-day disruption in «Ukrzaliznytsia». The company said at the time about a large-scale cyberattackwithout specifying the details, but where «grows from» seems obvious.

Since March 27, «Ukrzaliznytsia» resumed online ticket sales and is now gradually adding other features: ticketing with discounts for people with disabilities and students, as well as online scoreboards are already available. In active work return of verification through Diia.Signature and monitoring with auto-redemption.
