GTA V on PC will finally get graphical improvements from consoles — Rockstar announces next-gen update

Published by Ihor Panchenko

Rockstar plans to release an improved version of GTA 5 for PC in 2025.

Almost three years ago, Rockstar Games released an updated version of Grand Theft Auto V called Expanded and Enhanced for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. This version received improved graphics, faster downloads, and even the ability to skip the prologue in GTA Online. However, the PC version of the game did not receive these updates.

Recently, Rockstar finally mentioned the PC version of the game in a new post GTA Online Community Update blog. The company announced that the «long-awaited» features will also appear on PC.

Although the exact list of updates for PC players has not yet been revealed, at least the main improvements from the console versions should be carried over. These include ray tracing for reflections, more NPCs and traffic on the roads, better textures and effects, 3D sound, HDR, wildlife, and more. Faster load times and character switching on consoles were achieved by using SSDs, so on PC it will continue to depend on the type of storage the player has.

There’s no exact date for the Expanded and Enhanced PC update either, but it should be soon, as Rockstar says it will be released «in the new year».
