Vice City та God of War на Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 / ZenonDesingk, Reddit
The enthusiast installed the Sony PlayStation Portable emulator on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and launched several games, including GTA: Vice City and God of War, with an acceptable frame rate.
On Reddit, Stephen Warwick of Techradar attracted attention post user ZenonDesingk, who demonstrated Galaxy Watch 5 watch with God of War, GTA, and something similar to Forza Horizon 4. His interest allowed the journalist to find out more. The author of the post told him what it was.
«One day at school, I noticed that one of my friends was wearing a Samsung Galaxy Watch 5,» ZenonDesingk says. Impressed by the smartwatch’s capabilities and the presence of Google Play on it, he decided to buy one the next day. But at first, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 was disappointing.
«I was surprised to find that the [games available on the watch] were uninteresting and quite bad. But I didn’t let that discourage me because, after all, it’s Android! You can do anything you want», — the student set about radically improving the gaming experience.
At first, ZenonDesingk tried to download the files via the watch’s built-in browser or transfer the apps via Bluetooth, but neither worked. The enthusiast almost gave up hope, but remembered that he could install apps via ADB (Android Debug Bridge).
He used Bugjaeger, a versatile, multifunctional tool that allows for many manipulations of the Android device: «I immediately installed Bugjaeger on my phone, enabled wireless ADB in the Watch 5 developer settings, and connected the watch and phone (they must be on the same Wi-Fi network)».
After some tweaking, the enthusiast downloaded APK files to the watch and was able to run games:
«At first, I only tried simple games like Temple Run and Jetpack Joyride, but I wasn’t satisfied. I thought that the most advanced game to play on the watch would be GTA, so I tried to install GTA: Vice City, but it didn’t work».
Then the idea came up install the emulator This allowed him to download GTA: Vice City, God of War, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, and Mortal Kombat to the watch. Playing on a tiny screen was «torture», so the experimenter bought a Bluetooth gamepad on AliExpress, with which he could comfortably play all PSP games.
Incredibly, the games ran surprisingly fast and showed 60 frames per second. The only game that sometimes showed 30 FPS was God of War. Of course, ZenonDesingk didn’t plan to use this setup all the time, and after a few days of experimentation, he reset the clock and continued to use it as usual. It should be noted that such use of devices and games is questionable from the point of view of copyright, but it demonstrates the capabilities of Android.
