Hackers release TSforge exploit that «forever» activates Windows and Office

Published by Vadym Karpus

A group of hackers has unveiled a major breakthrough in Windows and Office piracy. The new method permanently activates most Microsoft products, completely bypassing the digital rights management (DRM) system. But the company doesn’t seem to be too concerned about it.

Thus, the Massgrave hacker group, which has created some of the most effective tools for activating Windows and Office, has released a new weapon — the TSforge Activation method. It allows you to permanently activate different versions of Windows and Office, and also allows you to receive updates for Windows 10 after the official end of support in October 2025.

Back in 2024, Massgrave launched its Microsoft Activation Scripts (MAS) project, claiming to be able to completely break Microsoft’s DRM protection. The MAS 3.0 update adds the TSforge Activation method, as well as bug fixes and improvements to existing activation scripts.

How does TSforge Activation work?

The hackers claim that TSforge is one of the most powerful and extensive tools for hacking Windows and Office. In their blog post, they described in detail how the Microsoft activation system works and what weaknesses it has.

Microsoft uses a modern protection technology called Software Protection Platform (SPP). This system consists of several components, and activation data is stored in two key files: data.dat – «physical storage» activation; tokens.dat – «token storage».

The TSforge method replaces these files with fake data, causing SPP to accept a fake product key or verification code as genuine. This allows you to bypass all verifications without having to connect to Microsoft servers.

TSforge currently enables activation of the following software products:

  • Windows 7 and later, including Windows Server (2008 R2 – 2025)
  • Office 2013-2024 office suites, but only on Windows 8 and later versions

In addition to regular activation, users can unlock commercial Windows features, such as Extended Security Updates (ESU) for Windows 7-10. It is also possible to continue to update Windows 10 using the same method previously used for Windows 7.

And what about Microsoft?

Microsoft has known about Windows activators for a long time, but hasn’t taken any serious action to block them. Hackers from Massgrave even praised the company, noting that SPP is a much better DRM protection than the old and «poorly designed» mechanism in Windows XP.

Interestingly, Microsoft Activation Scripts (MAS) is an open-source project hosted on GitHub (and this platform is owned by Microsoft itself). Therefore, the hackers claim that they technically do not violate any rules, and their tool is an alternative activation method that even Microsoft employees themselves can use in an emergency.
