Information about the development of the second part of Hogwarts Legacy and new game records appeared in the latest material Variety.
The plots of Hogwarts Legacy 2 and the upcoming Harry Potter series from HBO will be coordinated, said the president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment President David Haddad.
According to Haddad, Hogwarts Legacy which was released in 2023, helped to «reopen» the Harry Potter franchise after the failed Fantastic Beasts films. As of October 2024, more than 30 million copies of the game have been sold.
Now, the Hogwarts Legacy 2 development team is working with the authors of the upcoming Harry Potter series to align key plot elements in both projects. «The rest of the company has been very interested in what we helped to uncover with Hogwarts Legacy last year,» Haddad said.
It is not yet known what exactly this «coherence» of the stories means. HBO plans to adapt the seven original Harry Potter novels, so perhaps the teams are simply working together to avoid repeating familiar stories. However, it is possible that the plots of the game and the series will be directly related, and new characters (or new versions of already known characters) will move from one project to another.
As a reminder, last month it became known that Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition with a lot of new content.
