If you’ve ever edited a photo using Meta AI, you might easily see your face in one of the ads on Instagram.
As the website 404media notes, Instagram has begun testing a new feature for advertisements that will use the faces of Meta AI users in various situations and target the feeds of those same users.
Examples of such interactions have already started appearing on Reddit:
“I used Meta AI to edit a selfie, now Instagram is using my face in ads targeted at me,” wrote a man who was shown his AI-version before an endless “mirror maze”.
Meta confirmed that the screenshots are real, but “are not advertisements,” withholding further comments.
Meta AI is one of a series of chatbots with artificial intelligence that, in addition to responding to text queries, can generate or edit images. Since April 18, the chatbot has been freely available, operating on the third version of the Llama language model and has access to up-to-date information through integration with Google and Bing search engines.
