Intel postpones Arc Battlemage GPU announcement until December, but wants to be in time for CES 2025 to get ahead of the competition

It seems that Intel has decided to postpone the presentation of its new products. The chipmaker is approaching the release of new discrete GPUs, but recent reports suggest that this event will take place later than planned.

Earlier, the announcement of Intel Arc Battlemage GPU was expected on Black Friday, which falls on the last Friday of the fall. But now a well-known insider at Golden Pig Upgrade has revealed that the company will present the next-generation graphics cards in December. Later, data scientist Tomasz Gawronski confirmed this information by analyzing data from shipping invoices.

The launch of new products in December looks like a strategic step for Intel, as the company will be able to draw attention to its products before CES 2025. During CES, AMD plans to present the Radeon RX 8000 series based on RDNA 4 architecture, and NVIDIA — the GeForce RTX 50 line. Thus, Intel will have a chance to get ahead of the competition while the press attention is not yet focused on new products from AMD and NVIDIA.

A user of the X platform with the nickname Bionic_Squash states that Battlemage will not be the last series of discrete Intel GPUs. The company continues to develop in this direction, planning to release the Xe3 Celestial architecture. However, so far, it has been confirmed to be used only in small-scale mobile chips. As for the development of full-fledged discrete graphics cards based on Celestial, the timing remains uncertain.

Intel also faces challenges in popularizing its GPUs among enthusiasts. Nevertheless, the company has prospects: in future generations, Intel promises performance improvements that could significantly expand its share of the GPU market. However, competitors are not sitting idle either.
