Insider Jeff Snyder (via World of Reel) reports that the version of “Superman” shown at James Gunn’s private screening was “a kind of mess” and got Warner Bros. “nervous” about the upcoming movie.
Actually, The Hollywood Reporter had hinted at this development earlier, which reported in June that after an internal screening, DC planned “additional shooting”—though at that time, the reasons were not disclosed, nor were there any initial reactions to the film (which is surprising).
Snyder himself adds that he has “quite a bit of information” about the new “Superman,” but doesn’t plan to reveal it just yet. It’s worth noting that early screenings don’t necessarily mean the film turned out bad—for example, “Guardians of the Galaxy” was also not well received at its preview, but eventually, the film was quite favorably received by audiences after its theatrical release.
Just a reminder, last week saw the release of the first teaser trailer of the movie, which garnered a record-breaking 250 million views in a day for DC and Warner Bros.. It didn’t reveal the main plotline, but it did give a better look at the revamped characters: Superman played by David Corenswet, Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), and others. More details on what else the trailer showed can be found here.
The rest of the cast of the new “Superman” includes Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Eddie Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Maria Gabriela de Faria as Engineer, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and others.
The film will debut in Ukrainian cinemas on July 10, 2025.
